Through the weeks we keep seeing cryptocurrency in the news. This influx of news being fueled by social influencers such as Elon Musk has many embracing the idea of cryptocurrency. This craze is no longer a fantasy as many flock to building mining servers and collecting their little piece of this new world. Values of Bitcoin, Dogecoin, and Ethereum have reached all-time highs. Nvidia graphic card shortages have pushed the value of GPUs to some of the highest demand seen. The shortage of processors due to this pandemic hasn’t helped meet the demand. Last week Nvidia announces a new line of chips that are designed to relieve this pressure on demand.

This new chip is called a CMP, or Cryptocurrency Mining Processor. These chips are designed to aid Ether mining. Ether mining is a process in which computers solve complicated mathematical programs to help the Ethereum cryptocurrency network. In exchange, miners get Ether, the digital coin that runs on the Ether network. As of last week, Ether hit an all-time high of $1,914 and continues to grow. This 160% growth this year alone proves the acceptance of cryptocurrency is growing. These new chips are designed solely for mining. This should aid in shortages across the gaming and mining markets accordingly.

RTX 3060 software drivers are designed to detect specific attributes of the Ethereum cryptocurrency mining algorithm, and limit the hash rate, or cryptocurrency mining efficiency, by around 50 percent,” Nvidia’s said in a blog post.

As graphic cards were first developed to enable high-definition computer games to run at a higher performance rate, These cards are now showing high demand for other ventures such as machine learning and artificial intelligence development. Their usefulness in mining ether isn’t new but rather a larger market for graphic processor manufacturers to meet demand. With these markets growing, expect to see larger expectations from future cards and the demand on global CPU processors decline. This shift in the industry is happening at an alarming rate and we will see large architectural changes occur in the coming generations.

Keep gaming, mining, and pushing the limits of our new generational computing platforms. The outlook of our future is strong and shows us that influences in the industry are going to the private entrepreneur and away from big government.

Embrace change and don’t get left behind. Much love.
